Shri M.G. Kiran, IAS (Retd.) was born on 3rd June, 1954 and is a Post Graduate in Management from Pune University. In 1977 he joined the Government of Sikkim Services. Shri Kiran served as Principal Secretary Finance and Home Department. He also headed important departments - Commerce and Industries, Information and Technology, Information and Public Relations, Printing and Stationery, Raj Bhawan, Animal Husbandry beside PSUs-State Bank of Sikkim, Government Fruit Preservation Factory, SIMFED, SIDICO, SABBCO and Sikkim Flour Mills Limited. He also served as the Chairman of SISCO Bank and Teesta Urja Limited. In 2014, he was a recipient of the Sikkim State Civilian Award. He superannuated on 30th September, 2014 and continued as Principal Secretary, Finance and Revenue Department upto 30th September, 2017. Thereafter, he was appointed as the first Chairman of Sikkim State Food Commission on 1st February, 2018. He was appointed as first Member in Sikkim State Human Rights Commission on 10th June 2019 and assumed charge on the same day for a period of 5 years. He has been appointed as acting Chairperson of this commission w.e.f. 07.02.2023.
